Handfasting Ceremonies
A handfasting ceremony provides an opportunity to consciously affirm loving romantic partnerships. Unlike a wedding ceremony, it does not result in a legally recognized partnership, and may include more than two people. Handfasting ceremonies provide people an opportunity to consciously demonstrate their commitment to one another and their relationship for a determined period of time, usually one year. Unlike traditional engagements in which couples often feel bound to their wedding plans, a handfasting ceremony creates space for the unknown. It provides support during difficult transitions, as well as a foundation on which to build are brighter future.
Handfasting ceremonies may include some or all of these elements: processional, creation of sacred space, welcoming of guests and partners, declaration of intent, charge, special music and readings, drawing down the God and Goddess, exchange of vows, exchange of rings (or other symbol of union), blessing/benediction, closing and presentation. Celebration is often enjoyed through shared nourishment of food and drink. I will work with you to create a ceremony that meets your deeply personal needs and desires.

We had the great honour of having Lisa officiate our Hand Fasting ceremony in May 2015. She blessed us by creating a beautiful centrepiece that included a colourful woven tapestry, flowers, candles and our personal relationship treasures. As she spoke the most perfect words that came directly from her heart, she gently tied our hands together to solidify the love between us. There were no “I do’s” or contracts signed, but since that day we’ve both felt a deeper connection and reassurance of the strength in our relationship. S & A - Australia
